The other day I was reading an article called The Good Samaritan: Forgotten Symbols. It was very interesting! It showed connections to this memorable parable by Jesus Christ that I'd never thought of before. You can go here to read it.
It turns out that the parable was originally understood to be talking about the Savior Himself. We are the traveler who fell among thieves. The priest and Levite represent the Law of Moses and the Prophets, who alone cannot save us. Only the Samaritan (who represents Jesus Christ) stops to heal our wounds, carries us to a safe place, and then pays the price for our stay.
